چکیده
Herd management is essentially decision making under uncertainty. The manager makes decisions without speciic knowledge of the future (and present) state of the system. Decisions made on the tactical level are generally more uncertain than the ones on the operational level. However, a tactical decision will have an innuence on the decisions made on the operational level through the timehorizon of the tactical decision. Furthermore, if the system develops in an unexpected way, then the only way to adapt to the new situation will be through decisions on the operational level. Decisions made on the operational level should therefore be optimal with respect to both the current state of the system and the tactical decisions made. As a result, a tactical decision is only optimal if it's conditional on a optimal strategy identiied on the operational level. The object of this project is to implement a model to handle these multi-level decision making problems with varying time horizons. The main object is to develop methods in a more general framework. Speciic plans include automatic processing of registrations using bayesian methods to collect information on animal and herd level.

Systems for Monitoring and Decision Support with Respect to Sow Longevity
The average lifetime of sows as observed in production herds is primarily influenced by management decisions. Usually the farmer decides to cull a sow, either because he expects that a gilt's average productivity is higher than the marginal productivity of the sow, or because the current number of sows exceeds the production capacity, e.g. in the farrowing department. Several studies have shown...
متن کاملSow replacement: Reduction of state space in Dynamic Programming model and evaluation of benefit from using the model
Only few theoretical efforts have been made in order to support decisions of culling/replacement in sow herds, despite obvious possibilities for affecting productivity. In this paper different culling strategies are compared: 1) culling according to parity (CP) and 2) culling according to a policy determined by a Dynamic Programming (DP) model using litter sizes of each sow (CS). The latter rep...
متن کاملDevelopment in with-in herd prevalence, between herd prevalence and carcass prevalence in Danish pigs and pork compared to number of attributable human cases from 1995 to 2012
The Danish Salmonella program for pigs and pork has been running for 20 years, and has resulted in a 90 % reduction of human cases attributed to Danish pork from 1993 to 2012 (Anonymous, 2013). The development in prevalence in breeding herds, sow herds, finisher herds and at carcass level was analysed as part of the ongoing preparations for the fifth Danish Salmonella plan for pigs and pork, wh...
متن کاملA Model-Driven Decision Support System for Software Cost Estimation (Case Study: Projects in NASA60 Dataset)
Estimating the costs of software development is one of the most important activities in software project management. Inaccuracies in such estimates may cause irreparable loss. A low estimate of the cost of projects will result in failure on delivery on time and indicates the inefficiency of the software development team. On the other hand, high estimates of resources and costs for a project wil...
متن کاملSpatial clustering of swine influenza in Ontario on the basis of herd-level disease status with different misclassification errors.
This approach maximizes sensitivity of serology-based monitoring systems by considering spatial clustering of herds classified as false positive by herd testing, allowing outbreaks to be detected in an early phase. The primary objective of this study was to determine whether swine herds infected with influenza viruses cluster in space, and if so, where they cluster. The secondary objective was ...
